Sure Fit (www.surefit.net), based in Allentown, PA, is a prime example of a company that is harnessing the power of the Internet to increase its profitability. Sure Fit manufactures readymade slipcovers. While Sure Fit sells to major retailers nationwide, they also sell directly to consumers via the Internet and their own printed catalog. Selling on the Internet gives Sure Fit a higher margin and higher profitability.

Working with INetU for both the Web site development and server hosting, Sure Fit has seen their web site sales increase dramatically over the past few years. Web site sales alone now equal 40% of their direct mail business. Each web order saves Sure Fit money by bypassing customer service. Additionally, Sure Fit has used the interactive nature of their Web site to obtain valuable consumer feedback via pop-up surveys and email.

Sure Fit's Mike Herman notes the availability and speed of the INetU network and the INetU technical support staff as a major advantage. Recounting a particular instance where INetU's five-star customer service proved very helpful to Sure Fit, Herman explained that Sure Fit underestimated the traffic that would be generated by its latest Web site launch and a promotion run to coincide with it. The result was over-taxing of the Sure Fit servers, causing extreme site slowness. "INetU added a second Web server and second database server and had our server farm up and running in about 24 hours. The slowness was a major problem because we were losing money every hour due to increased traffic and lack of server response. INetU acted quickly to resolve this problem and always let us know what was going on," says Herman.
